About Me
Medical Student, Researcher & Illustrator
Hi, I’m Gurparsad Suri. My journey into medicine hasn’t been conventional, but every step has been intentional. I was born in Thailand, raised in the United States, and shaped by moments of adversity, discovery, and purpose.
The first time I realized I wanted to heal others wasn’t in a classroom — it was at a citizenship office, watching people experience fear and uncertainty. Later, I watched my foster mother quietly battle chronic illness without access to proper care. Those moments stayed with me. They became the reason I chose this path.
Since then, I’ve worked in urgent care, supported patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, and conducted research on SARS-CoV-2. I’ve learned to study under pressure, lead with compassion, and stay grounded in why I started.
For me, becoming a doctor isn’t just about earning a degree. It’s about becoming the kind of physician patients can trust — someone who listens, understands, and shows up when it matters most.
